Log File Parsers

GamutLogViewer© allows you to define a Log File Parsers that can be used to parse your log files into multiple columns. This section explains how to create and manage your Parsers.

  • First open a log file that you want to work with.
  • Then from the View menu select Log File Parsers or press the Log File Parser toolbar icon.
  • This displays the "Log File Parsers" form.

  • If you have a new installation the only Parser defined will be the "<Blank>" Parser. This is the one the current file is using which since you have specified how to parse your log file displays the entire contents of a line in a single column.
  • Gamut supports Log4J/Log4Net, NLog, separators like CSV files, and you can even define a custom parser.
  • Look at the help for creating/editing Log4J/Log4Net, NLog  or Custom Parsers depending on what type of log format you are working with.
  • If you work with log files that use different formats you can create a unique Parser for each type of log file you work with. Follow the same steps as mentioned above for each type of log you work with.
  • This form allows you to Edit, Create, Rename and Delete your Log File Parsers.
  • In addition you can change the "Default" Log File Parser by selecting the Parser you want to be your default and pressing the "Default" button. The default Log File Parser is used when opening a new log file.
